I am a Professor in the Department of Computer and Electronic Engineering at the University of Cantabria. My early research focused on interconnection networks for massively parallel systems. Over the years, my interests shifted toward memory hierarchy design and the opportunities and challenges introduced by emerging technologies. I have worked on topics including coherence protocols, cache architectures, 3D integration, and non-volatile memories. More recently, I have become fascinated by the remarkable efficiency, reliability, and elegance of biological systems, and I am curious about the extent to which these principles might inspire the next generation of computer architectures.
